About Christian Dréa
From the age of seven, Christian Dréa put his hands on a piano. This first contact with music will never leave him. Between music theory lessons and an early curiosity for electro-acoustics, he very early developed a dual sensitivity – that of the classical musician and that of the sound researcher.
In the 70s and 80s, he accompanied several orchestras as a keyboardist, forging through contact with seasoned musicians a demanding concept of composition and arrangement. It was also during this period that he turned to analog synthesizers, fascinated by their ability to sculpt new sound spaces.
Today, his instrumental music is part of a continuity between these two worlds: the piano, always present, anchors his compositions in a melodic tradition; synthesizers project them towards cinematic and contemplative landscapes. A universe that names like Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre or Enigma have helped to trace — and that Christian Dréa continues to explore, album after album, in his own way.
